David Snook is a local artist, born and bred in and around the Tamar Valley, but has lived half his life in total contrast in Southern Africa. Because of this diversity, he sees his surroundings through new eyes after his return.
He works in oils transcribing our rugged coastal habitation into his own textured style. His scenes are designed around a limited palette with rich cadmium undertones, invigorating life into his landscapes. He believes figure drawing is essential to his works, it provides a loose spontaneous flair to his otherwise rigid technical style which underpins his initial drawings.
